The French police destroyed more than 1 million items of counterfeit luxuryv


  Trade Minister Nicole Bricq, attending such an event in Chilly-Mazarin, southwest of Paris, said he was "an economic crime that affects all sectors, destroys jobs and threatens our consumers."

Ms. Bricq said they led to large losses for the economy by the number at 6 billion euros ($ 8.46 billion) per year.

Article destroyed in Chilly-Mazarin, and in big cities like Marseille, Bordeaux, Lyon and Rouen, including wearing style wear fake names such as Dolce & Gabbana, Dior and Lacoste, Rolex fake watches and shoes, phones and toys.

The market for counterfeit products has burgeoned. In 1994, Customs has intercepted 200,000 articles, and the number rose to 8.3 million in 2011.

The French authorities say nearly 70 percent of its products from Asia and about a third of the orders were placed via the internet.
